My daughter’s engaged!!!!
To be more precise, I should say, “My loving, tender, fierce, loyal, breathtakingly competent, brilliant, beautiful daughter is engaged to a wonderful, wonderful man and we are all over the moon!!”
Any of you mothers out there who’ve had this moment know how I feel, and everyone else can imagine it with help of her enormous smile and my myriad exclamation points.
All my best to all of you, and to those you love so dearly. Just writing that brings tears to my eyes. Have a wonderful weekend.

Over the moon is correct! What joyous tears you must bring shedding …. They’ll be more at the wedding – congratulations !

Wonderful moment. Enjoy!
Thank you!
I am so happy for you and your family. Congratulations!
Thank you:)
Ahhh, please thank the bride-and-groom-to-be for allowing you to share this photo with us. I had one of those “Kathy Leeds moments” during a restless night, too many thoughts from recent news messing with my mind: “Well at least tomorrow morning Lisa will have something wonderful for us to read.” This is JUST what we needed – a reminder that beautiful people are still doing beautiful things out there in our crazy world.
I can’t tell you how much it means to me that this long-standing, no longer terribly professional blog is still meaningful. And thank you for the note.
So happy for all of you! My sons- and daughter-in-law have enriched our lives immeasurably, and those beautifully open and happy faces in the photo above suggest you will experience the same xoxoxo
Thank you, Frances. I asked permission to use this photo, which my daughter had not shared widely, precisely because she is smiling so broadly and so openly, precisely because of that open happiness.
What wonderful news! Heartiest congratulations to all. ❤️
Thank you!!
How wonderful! Congratulations! Felicitations to the lovely bride! xoxo
Thank you! It does feel exactly that, wonderful!
What lovely news, thank you for bringing it here! Congratulations and warmest of wishes!!!
Thank you! This is a beautiful community, and I am so happy to tell you all this news, and hear your own thoughts and stories about this time in our lives.
I have tears in my eyes!
Congratulations!!
I’m happy for you and your family. This is wonderful news.
Enjoy every moment…the best is yet to be.
My daughter has been married to a wonderful man for ten years. They are very happy and life is good! I truly think of Adam as one of my own children. He is best friends with my son.
Love is a wonderful thing!! ❤️
Oh thank you:). And for your story. I am only now beginning to understand, my son also partnered, how these relationships expand our families.
Such wonderful news!! Congratulations to all! Thank you for sharing this, along with the delightful photo of your beautiful daughter and handsome son-in-law-to-be — they look so happy. It would brighten anyone’s weekend. I hope yours is full of joy and lots and lots of love! ❤
Thank you, Jess. I love how happy they look. And tired! Both residents, they don’t get anything like enough sleep!
Wonderful news! Congratulations to you and your family. Much to look forward to.
Thank you! I’m so excited!
What wonderful news!!! All best wishes to the handsome couple! I remember so well the feelings of euphoria when each of our sons became engaged to our fabulous daughters in law. It is a memorable feeling–so I think I know how you feel today!
Thank you! And I LOVE hearing how this is a shared feeling. Most of the usual writings on being a mother of the bride (or groom) focus so much on place settings and primping but I actually am not thinking about the wedding at all, just their happiness and my joy in this growing family.
Wonderful news! Congratulations!
Thanks, T!
How wonderful. The beginning of a glorious journey for you all. we all need joy like this.
Thank you, Sandy. Such joy it is.
Congratulations to the lovely couple and to you, MOB! My only daughter was just married in April and it was glorious and joyful because we adore her husband and how well they work together as a couple, playing to each other’s strength and appreciating each other’s gifts and talents. I felt absolutely wrapped in the love of family and friends that day, not unlike how I felt the day she was born. I wish all of that for you!!! Enjoy every minute of the journey to their wedding.
M, what an absolutely beautiful comment. I can feel it, and thank you for the good wishes xox
Congratulations! Enjoy the joy. My niece’s and nephew’s partners have each added love, humor, wisdom, and their families to our family. Love multiplied is a wonderful thing.
Thank you, Katherine. There can never be enough of any of that. May the multiplication begin!
Congratulations!~
Thank you!
Such exciting news!!!! Congratulations to you all.
Thank you!!!
I KNOW THE FEELING!!!
So EXCITING!
This will keep you busy!!!

Wonderful happy news … Wishing the beautiful couple all the best. And now the wedding planning starts!
Thank you so much! And yes, I guess now it does!
Oh, Lisa (and family)! What joyful news—thank you for sharing and congratulations and best wishes to all! Sending joy and hugs from the east coast.
Thank you so much, long time internet friend!
Oh, how wonderful! Best wishes to the happy couple and to you!!!
Thank you so much, Sue xoxo
Such happy news – congratulations!
Thank you so much!
Congratulations to the happy couple and their families and loved ones! As the mother of sons, both of whom married brilliant, caring, beautiful women (one of whom is a cancer surgeon), I can’t help but think how thrilled the groom-to-be’s parents must be to welcome your daughter into their family. Seeing your children in loving relationships (and especially, if you’re lucky, as parents) is one of the real joys of life.
MJ, thank you so much. If your son married a cancer surgeon, I salute him. The process of becoming a surgeon can make it hard for women to live the full lives they want. A loving, supportive husband must be absolutely necessary. Congratulations on your boy:). And her future in-laws have been incredibly welcoming, it’s wonderful.
Oh, such happy news! Congratulations and best wishes all around. :)
Thank you!!!
Oh, Lisa, how wonderful! I’m only sorry that her beloved maternal grandparents are not here to share in your joy – but I can see both of them in her beautiful smiling face, and I am sure they are beaming down from heavenly clouds above. Your daughter’s fiancé is one hell of a lucky guy!
I wish they were here too, and I also know how happy they’d be. Thank you.
That’s just wonderful!! Congratulations to you all!
Thanks so much!
Lisa, what wonderful news!! It’s such a special feeling, and I hope you enjoy every moment!!
So far so good, thanks, Maureen:)
Congratulations! This is a wonderful moment and I’m thrilled for you all. It is AMAZING to watch our family grow. Blessings, joy and harmony to the young couple
May they experience that triad. Thank you.
