I like it! The quality of this tee, a boyish, ribbed style from Lands’ End, seems high! It comes in many colors! It’s on sale! As a reminder, I ordered it to subvert my tonal wardrobe:
The color is technically too bright for me but what are rules? With a muted Vince jacket and brown Vuoris, I welcome that little snap of color. (I cannot use the term “pop,” it exhausts me, but that’s my problem not yours.) P.S. it’s long, for those of you who to pull down or tuck in.
Lands’ End is having a big ol’ sale this weekend too, which means this tee and its sisters (sesthren? why is that not a word when we have brethren?) are on deep sale. I hadn’t shopped at Land’s End in ages, but UNIQLO tees aren’t very interesting at the moment, and Madewell’s offerings, for all I love the colors, have proved a little bit flimsy and I wasn’t in the mood for delicate.
It’s Sturdy Gal time.
I have one more tee from Lands’ End, in supima cotton. This fabric falls away from the body, and the cut feels more polished.
I like the contrast of a ladylike print and, well, other stuff like joggers, Timberlands and chore jackets. This colorway is sold out, but look how cute in an orangey-version. I’d want to tough it up a bit, or add hippie earrings, but that could be fun.
And imagine this as the base for a good black and brown outfit, something I’ve loved since back when.
I suppose it’s time for long sleeves; Land’s End has those too.
In other words, from what I have experienced, and what I see, I endorse.
Have an excellent weekend, each and every one of you.
First note: some links may generate commissions. Second note: I’m not sure yet if I’ll be able to post here again before the election, unless it’s about the election, and I know you are all getting enough of that information and those vibes. To me it feels all-important. But I’ll see how it goes. Thanks in advance for your forbearance.

Yay! Thank you for the review! I’m glad you like it. Extra thanks for adding that it’s long enough: long enough has been hard to find lately, and I’m not even tall. I like your Supima tee as well.
“Pop of color” bothers me too. I don’t want to pop or be popped. “Snap” sounds much more composed. :) And the snap of turquoise looks great in your outfit.
Have a wonderful weekend!
You’re so welcome:). Snap it is!
I’m curious (possibly missed the post?) as to why you’ve transitioned to brown pants in general. I understand the no black, but why not navy, gray, khaki, or army green? I love the turquoise on you, but would like it better with those colors I mentioned. I love the color brown, but I don’t think it really works as a “neutral.” I hope you don’t mind my honesty? But you look adorable in anything!
Don’t mind the honesty at all! Gray is the same problem as black. I could do many, or marine blue, I just didn’t find any. Khaki and army green I will do, I just ran into brown first LOL, via Eileen Fisher. Once I had one pair of brown pants I figured I might as well get versatile with two and got the Vuoris. And I do like the brown, it’s been a fun adventure.
Curious what the problem is with gray (since we have such similar coloring)
I find it makes my face look kind of gray itself
Super duper wishing you’d please consider posting, soon and often, about the political situation and the Presidential election in specific. I bet we would have a very interesting conversation! Funny, though I heard people say they didn’t want to talk about politics during the 2020 election, I haven’t heard so much of that pre-emptive declared taboo issued in 2024.
I live in Connecticut, in a traditionally Republican town. Think George H.W. Bush country. Last summer, the town clerk told me that since 2020 the party split has changed, from 60 tom 65% majority Republican, to 35% Republican, 35% Democrat, and 30% Independent. I think this is fascinating! The town clerk says she credits these shifts to 1) many young families moving here from NYC during Covid, and 2) Republicans shifting to become Independent. Okay, hope I haven’t said anything offensive, and look forward to any thoughts. Thank you!
Sarah, not remotely offensive. When Trump won in 2016, I called him a barbarian on Medium, writing, “sad, resigned, horrified, we open the gates, hiding our children and our knives in our skirts.” Since then, I’ve made my politics clear and I’m pretty sure most of those who disagree with me have stopped reading. Last week I posted a list of things to do to have agency. https://lisacarnochan.com/2024/10/6-things-you-can-do-to-reduce-that-dogged-sense-of-dread-or-saturday-morning-at-859am/. If I find I have to say something before November 5th, I promise I will. But it would have to be something that is worth my writing it, worth it for you the readers, if that makes sense. In essence, I only hope America has grown enough to be able to elect a woman.
I like the blue with the brown pants. I understand the appeal of the personalized color pallet but it’s nice to have something different sometimes.
Thanks! It is fun to have a little jolt of different.
Sistren is a word, and I use it. It’s a good one.
It is? I will look for more opportunities to use it then. Thank you.
Thank you for the tip on the sale. I wear good cotton tees year around. Most of my cotton tees come from LL Bean and I’ve had them for many years. All are showing no wear, no fade and still in perfect condition. I will look at the sale as I can always add a new color. Your blue tee under the tan jacket looks terrific.
Thanks! And I’ll look into LL Bean too. I wonder if their quality is still high as you describe.
“Forbearance,” the word I “went down on” in my elementary school Regional Spelling Bee. My father, such a gem of support in my misery, said “Oh that’s easy!”
Something’s going on with Lands’ End. They’ve held outrageous sales for months and months and months. But I’m so glad this T is a solid buy, and it looks killer on you [with those shoulders of yours, for which I’d give a king’s ransom] . I’m watching their corporate numbers, hoping everything is ok, especially given this high quality product report. Thank you!
I wish I knew where to go to keep reading your thoughts on the election. Wise call on your part, though.
Your father, sigh. Well, that’s how they were taught, right? We hope that each generation does a little better. I hope Lands’ End is not in trouble. Retail is so hard these days. Thanks for your trust in my capacity to say something of value re: the election.
I don’t think the tee is too bright for you at all. It looks close to the Peacock color in your Autumn palette. And you can pull off some brightness…remember the Saffron? ;-) I think it would look smashing with Olive as well.
Aha, well, hooray! I’m going to take this as yet more proof of what I know already, you’re good at this, and also as a good sign that my eye may be adjusting to this new world beyond navy blue. In fact I bought it to wear with a moss green, so maybe I’ll put a photo up of that too.
I want to thank you for your standing up for our democracy and our wonderful country. I spent 25 years in federal govt service and this is a very scary time. I have a Harris sign on my lawn -and I live in a conservative Orange County area, my neighbors that I know are voting blue are too afraid to post signs ( although a few brave souls-all women have signs and they were all stolen last week-I searched and found them dumped on a road and returned them all to their respective lawns) Anyway-a neighbor walked by while I was out in front of my house talking to an other neighbor and yelled “COMMUNIST”. I was then and am still stunned. What a sad day for Americans. Let’s make our country kind again. We are already great. Bravo to you-and thank you for what you do.
Sandy, I am so sorry you have to deal with this level of hostility when you should be able to feel safe and at home in your neighborhood. Nice work returning the signs! You’re welcome, I just feel I have no other choice. Our country has so much promise, I only hope we don’t have to go back to the times when so many were shut out of that promise.
I have found the Lands End supima cotton t shirts to be thin – I only buy the dark colors because the light colors are see through. I see Lands End t shirts recommended elsewhere on the internet as a thick t shirt option but they are not thick.
There are petite and tall options which is great.
Interesting. The one I have is patterned, maybe that makes a difference?
