It’s wet here in Northern California, perhaps we’ll avoid the threatening drought. I love rain, it’s like the world’s taking care of you.
Speaking of which, I’ve been at my job for 5 months now. Just remembered something important. You can pay other people to:
- Cook for you
- Clean your house
- Tend your gardens
- Iron your shirts
- Buy what you need
- Keep track of finances
You cannot pay anyone to:
- Go to the doctor for you
- Sleep for you
- Spend time with loved ones in your stead
I had my annual physical yesterday, and plan to do lots of the other this weekend. I hope yours is lovely.

Although my work is here at home, domestics and some business stuff for my husband, I still have to keep track of the finances- somehow.
The rest of your list, lies in my hands.
About the second list, I´d require more sleep than I can arrange, and time to spend with the loved ones is not enough, as everyone around here is so busy.
Enjoy your weekend too!
Ah yes glorious sleep. I need at least 8 hours preferably 9.
The sun is shining here and the garden is calling my name…I have hired a young fellow to help with the heavy work so things should be looking much tidier very soon!
Is it really 5 months? How time flies.
Have a lovely weekend Lisa.
I hope you have an excellent weekend with lots of sleep and good visits.
I feel the same way about rain and of course you put it so well!
Ah, sleep…what was that?
I guess I’ll remember again when my kids go to college, hopefully sooner but I wouldn’t bet on that ;)
Sleep. . . nature’s nurse. Hope you fit in enough this weekend, perhaps lulled by the sound of rain on your roof (Cue the Lovin’ Spoonful)
We’re actually in drought, here in London. Wish I could employ someone to go to work for me!
Enjoy the rain, it is nature’s gift, and a perfect time to catch another nap.
Enjoy your relaxing week end.
I remember reading when my first child was young and I was working full-time that you could spend you time doing things for your child or spend your time with your child – very wise advice, which helped me prioritize all those years ago. You have the right idea. Have a wonderful weekend.
So true. Wish I could pay people to go to the doctor though.

We are beginning to have a drought problem over here, hose pipe bans in parts….I miss rain love the feel of it on my face.
Have an agency housekeeper at the moment….she does not clean to my standard,+ she has ruined my saucepan urgggg!
HB is starting a new business and totally preoccupied never comes out of the office only to eat, sleep.
Can’t believe you have been working for 5 mths, are you enjoying it? Ida
Sleep is at top of List #2, because without it I’m not a fit companion for anyone (including myself)! Relax and restore!
“I love rain, it’s like the world’s taking care of you.” So true, and what a wonderful way of putting it.
We have rain here too this weekend so I’m catching up on cleaning and sleeping. Another quote I love is Shakespeare’s “sleep that knits up the ravel’d sleeve of care”.
Have a good weekend.
One thing I must always work on…enough sleep!

I am glad for the rain. We’re still recovering from jet lag but it is very nice to be home after three weeks away.
Here’s hoping you are as fit and well as you sound these days! Happy sleeping.
If I could pay someone to sleep for me, I would empty my bank accounts right now. Sadly, I also can’t pay anyone to study for me. (Well, technically I could, but it’s frowned upon.) But I spent this weekend with loved ones, celebrating a year with my amazing, wondrous daughter in the world, and that seems good enough. Maybe I’ll sleep next week. The rain has been nice.
Wise words, and well spoken. I have become so reliant on others to take care of me that the prospect of “doing” for myself fills me with horror at the drudgery of it all. I mean, I get surly if I have to wash too many dishes, I can’t imagine how snitty I’d be if I had to mow the lawn or launder the clothes, too!
Congrats on 5 months at your job! I do miss your presence but am about to move into a much more consuming speed of work so my blogging presence will be less as well.

I wish I could pay people to go to the doctor for me, too. I’d love for someone else’s boobs to get squished in that yearly manangle device.
I was thinking about paying someone to clean up the leftover winter leaves (those oaks hold on until well past December or after the snow flies). It would make getting out to the garden so much easier, but when I mentioned it to DH he said he’d do it. I won’t hold my breath. He’d rather be hiking through the leaves than raking them up.
