Just about a year ago, Sally over at Already Pretty released her book. It’s called, appropriately, “Already Pretty: Learn To Love Your Body By Dressing It Well.” If I could be said to write about the nexus of style and social context, Sal writes about style and body image. And her book offers a step-by-step plan to develop a clothing style that works with your body and makes you feel good in the process.
She writes with enormous kindness, good humor, and encouragement. I’ve met her in person, she’s very much like her writing – lovely.
You all have asked me occasionally how to build a wardrobe from scratch, and I’ve done just that, if you can allow a play on words, scratch the surface. Sal’s book is for those who want more. Particularly those who like concrete advice, and support. She offers, for example, ways to highlight or downplay almost every single aspect of one’s figure. As well as tips on how to cope with your closet, and the mantra, “You’re Already Pretty.” Isn’t that a sentence worth remembering.
If you’d like more info, or to hear from the woman herself, take a look at Sal’s guest post here last year.
You can buy her book for your Kindle/iPad, for $7.99, or in print for $12.48. Happy Book Birthday Sally! And many more.

Thank you, THANK YOU for this shout-out, my dear! I truly appreciate your support. And readers of Privilege, I’m happy to answer any questions you have about my book and its processes.
I love the concept of your book. Will be sure to look at it.
downloading it now! sounds like a great july read.
the concept is long overdue.
Happy Birthday Already Pretty. I salute you because your blog name alone qualifies you as one of most powerfully positive forces on the internet for girls and women. Simple, and true: we are already pretty. But most of us don’t know it, can’t accept it, and an insane number of us will fight to disprove your thesis! Please keep on keeping on!
I remember, years ago now, reading Sally’s insight that she was/we are *already* pretty and being stunned at the power of it.
Happy birthday, Sally. I love reading about successes in our girls world and the empowering message. I remember hearing a phrase on a sitcom that the woman was afraid of wasting her pretty years. I thought that was so sad and unfortunate. So good,to see a positive message.
Have a great weekend, Lisa. :)
spent the morning in a coffee shop with my ipad and sally’s book. spending the afternoon in my closet!
so so sensible and fresh. thank you, sally.
