Out And About In The Virtual World, Or, Saturday Morning at 8:23am

This week in the world on our screens.

I posted an open letter to Jeff Bezos, the CEO of Amazon, on Medium. A Medium editor liked it and put it in the top few recommended for that day. I was quite gratified.

I went to a yoga class and emerged blissful, on Twitter.

Fran, of the blog Franish, matched for her residency program in a couples match with her new fiancé. All the congratulations.

And Sue of Une Femme d’un Certain Age and Allyson Walsh of That’s Not My Age were featured in Good Housekeeping. Good things for good people.

If you have good news or an accomplishment you’d like to celebrate below, please do. I love to applaud my friends. I hope you have wonderful weekends.

  1. WOW!!!!!…YES, YES, and YES!!!!!…Your letter to Jeff Bezos is amazing, spot on and forceful…Reminding us that he is supporting Breibart is beyond necessary…You have done a wonderful deed with this letter…

And as large as Amazon is and as small as one consumer’s influence reaches…the truth is, we don’t NEED Amazon…Purchases can be put together from Target, etc…Amazon Prime is not the HG of retail as much as it is purported to be…

I am one small participant in the American economy…I decided with the unfair publicity to Nordsrom to use my small influence to support Nordstrom…I now buy everything that I can there and you know what?…It adds up…

Same as wanting to support Hawaii during this time of misunderstanding…Changed vacation plans…adding a bit more cash to the vacay coffers makes for a longer trip to the Aloha state…

Jeff Bezos small efforts create a ripple…Supporting white supremacy is just a stagnant act…You never know the reach of influence in small efforts..

    BRAVO…LISA…..

    1. @Deeds, Thank you. and I LOVE the idea of supporting Hawaii. One of my favorite places in the world – beyond just recreation to a spiritual feeling for the planet and its gifts.

  2. Hi Lisa,

  4. Lisa, thanks for the mention! And your open letter…wonderful writing and I hope it’s widely circulated. You make the case very well.

  5. My good news: My daughter just got accepted to a Masters program in Regional & Community Planning. Hope for the future!!!

  6. “So many Americans love this country, me included, that I think we can make the most progress by starting with that love and broadening it to include every single group in the country”.

With a philosophy like this, you might consider public office. You express yourself clearly, powerfully and brilliantly. This is definitely a time when we need honest, altruistic and patriotic leadership in this country.

    1. @Scannie4me, Thank you very much. Sadly, my IRL self is a blurter, prone to saying what she thinks even in times of stress and confrontation. Not good for holding office, as we are seeing right now:(. But, if there is any way I can contribute to a more compassionate country with my writing, I will do it.

  7. Congratulations on the visibility with the Jeff Bezos letter. Powerful piece of writing.
