Under The Weather For Good Reason, Or, Saturday Morning at 8:57am

Good morning to all. Here, have some viburnum. Somewhat blurry, but then so am I.

I am happy to have gotten my second shot Thursday, however I am still a little under the weather and therefore must beg off today’s post.

I’ll be back next week. That is, with any luck as I see my blog hosting site is performing maintenance tonight. Cross your fingers that the maintenance does only that–maintain.

For today, I did want to pass two online events on to you. They were in turn recommended to me by a Princeton classmate and friend, Sarah Finnie Robinson, who has been working on the health of the Earth for a long time. She’ll be speaking at both.

2021 Annual Planetary Meeting and Festival

American Climate Leadership Summit

Have a good weekend. I think when I’m fully immunized I might just have to walk all over town and peer into shop windows and look people up and down (while trying not to let them see me do it of course) and report back. I have forgotten so much, but I’m happily anticipating the reminders.

  1. Yay! Congratulations on getting fully vaccinated. Now you can venture out and not be nervous. Hope you feel better soon.

  2. The second vaccine also took me down a bit. I hope you feel better soon.
Your viburnum and mirror are beautiful.

  3. Sorry to hear you’re under the weather, but at least now your immunised. Take care and get well soon.

  4. Sorry you are under the weather in response to the shot, but so very glad that you received it. Drink lots of water, and rest until you feel well. It’s glorious to see vaccinated people and feel free. Take care. xo.

  5. I’m so glad you’ve had the 2nd dose, Lisa! I’ve been fully vaccinated for quite a while, because I work in a hospital (researcher, no patient contact so I was in the last priority group). i lost a day after my second dose, well worth it. I’ve started going back to the gym and pool. And today I went into a grocery store for the first time. At one point, my cart was missing so I looked around until I found it. I had a short conversation with the woman who had taken it, and I realized how much I’ve missed pleasant interactions with strangers.

  6. Be patient, drink plenty of water, take Motrin, eat bananas and nap when tired. I found the symptoms pass in about 36 hours. Once fully vaccinated I found myself feeling lighter both physically and metaphysically.

  7. Dear Lisa,
I am so glad you’ve had your second vaccine and hoping the symptoms have receded by today. Thanks for the shout out about the two events this week. They will be of interest to anyone who is interested in the environment, planetary health, and solutions to climate change. When people ask me “what can I do” about climate change, I always say, get informed about solutions! The ecoAmerica event is focused on the United States: and the Planetary Health Annual Meeting is truly international:
Hope to “see” some of you there. Sarah

  8. Sorry that you don’t feel well-but,yay,congratulations for the second vaccine! Only way to go!
I was thinking a lot about your beautiful daughter during these months…….
<3 to you and both of your children

  9. So happy that you have gotten your second vaccine. It is a game changer, even though we still have to be careful.

  10. Congrats on your vaccination! We get our second Moderna on Thursday and have cleared our schedule for a couple of days afterward in anticipation of possible side effects. Looks like the blog survived the maintenance, hope you’re back up to speed as well!

  11. With each immunization, we are closer to some semblance of normalcy. We all look forward to moving about without a mask and social distancing. In a day or two you should feel fine.

  12. hopefully, by today you are feeling great. glad you got the second jab and are on your way to a summer of vaccinated freedoms <3
