Gleeful Dressing, Or, Saturday Morning at 9:10am

(and yes I did publish this early, but hey, the political news is pretty grim and at least we have each other)

We probably all have outfits that make us gleeful, sometimes even if strictly speaking one might do it better. This week one day I found myself in three autumn colors, mustard, chocolate, a darkened green, just as summer began. The proportions of the 10-year old forest green Superegas were not quite right; I would have liked a thicker sole. But still, fall in summer thrilled my subversive aesthetic soul and close-fitting top/widest pants are my jam. (In actuality, we want want to do the opposite of subverting seasons. I’m looking into electrification.)

Shirt from J.Crew (on sale), lantern pants from Eileen Fisher (no longer available although the brand does still offer lantern pants in other fabrics and colors), old green Supergas (definitely no longer available but green shoes are out there) bought at now-vanished Barney’s, in San Francisco.

Now I plan to spend as much of the day outside as possible. Have a good weekend.

  1. “At least we have each other,” indeed, and little bright things that make us happy, like a favorite outfit. Enjoy the lovely California weather — it is truly a privilege. Especially when living near beautiful forests and mountains and beaches, where there are so many things to do outside for most of the year. Have a wonderful weekend!

  2. The worse the news is, the more I found myself scrolling for small joys, like new earrings, etc. Like an outfit that brings joy, it feels uplifting right now. At least we have each other is right!

  3. Vintage Supergas are more sustainable, and give you that I’ve been cool forever look.

I was busy having a bad week without the news and did what I could to ignore it.

  4. Hi Lisa,

I left a private message for you via messenger on your facebook page.

    Thank you!
