This morning I will be, as soon as I can get myself there, canvassing in the congressional district I’ve worked in off and on since 2018 – CA13. Going with my sister, because I am scared of this process and it’s so much better with a friend. In the meantime, here’s an article that encourages and also insists on the need for continued effort.
The worst decline of democracy ever recorded could have been worse. If not for you.

Hello Lisa, Good for you and thank you for doing your part in this crisis. The article was shocking–I of course had seen the various bits and pieces, but it hurt to see it all spelled out in one place.

When you said “scared of this process,” I [by nature, unfortunately] imagined there was something unsafe about it. Glad it went well, and there may be a new category of footwear now: Canvassing Shoes.
Beautiful sentiment. As a veteran canvasser, I am qualified to recommend footwear. One can dress as your mood dictates. Comfort and covered toes are a must. It is walk walk – stairs up – knock knock – talk talk – stairs down – walk walk.

Thank you for canvassing! It’s so heartening how many people have stepped up. I work for a nonprofit whose mission includes voter outreach, and I stand in awe of the dedication and energy of our volunteers.
Ah, thank you for doing this in a deeper way! Voter outreach feels so great, as though truly we still have the power.
It horrifies me to see and hear of the things that are happening, and to think of all of the people who are suffering as a result of the dictator in charge of the US. I’m glad you and your sister are contributing to the much needed opposition to the backwards changes he has wrought upon your country, some of which are being envied and judiciously watched by the right wing around the world. I’m also glad to see you were safe and I hope the momentum continues to build and allow the US to see good change come their way and the process of rebuilding to start.
